Overlapping Coverage
December 07, 2005
WHEN CINGULAR WIRELESS and AT&T Wireless merged in October 2004, it was generally thought they would need most of their overlapping cell sites for capacity reasons. According to a press release from PR Newswire, though, Cingular Wireless is telling 15,000 property owners that they must agree to rent reductions up to 50% or risk having their lease terminated.
With the aid of a well-known Illinois-based law firm, one that specializes in class action law suits, the city of Parma, OH has filed a law suit against Cingular Wireless.
One has to believe Cingular had very good termination language in the vast majority of its leases. If so, I do not think the city of Parma, OH will have a leg to stand on. ■
